Rolex always pays great attention to its advertising image by choosing the most suitable testimonials to effectively promote its new models. However, some famous personalities have indirectly given even greater advertising success to the Genevan Company, by wearing a Rolex watch during their public appearances.

One example is Bond, James Bond, whose code name is 007: the most famous secret agent in the world. In the first movie of the series: “Dr. No” from 1962, (based on the romance by Ian Fleming) Bond, interpreted by Sean Connery, wears a SUBMARINER so called BIG CROWN (“coroncione” by Italian collectors) without crown guards to the 8 mm diameter winding crown. Again a “Big Crown”, accompanied by a black and military green striped nylon strap (NATO STRAP), appears on Bond’s wrist in the movie “Goldfinger”. Connery wears it over his wetsuit when emerging from the surf and then highlights all its charm by wearing it with a white tuxedo. Again in 1965, in “Thunderball”, Connery appears with a red check shirt, color matching swimming trunks and black sunglasses, wearing a Submariner without crown guards. And it is also in 1965, that the world becomes crazy for Agent 007: Bond mania invades the world. But also the Rolex Submariner invades the world and continues to be an undisputed legend, one of the most worn and desirable watches. Rolex Submariner and James Bond: a unique couple.

In the book Rolex Submariner Story you can see all the references so called "James Bond Submariner", with high quality images, detailed information and updated prices.

Furthermore, the Submariner watches represent one of the international collector's centers of interest because every example has a characteristic which makes it a unique piece: today, for example, it is very important to distinguish different Marks (small differences between the dials which make a big difference in the price).

For instance, the Submariner "Green Dial" ref. 16610LV has 5 different marks, every one with a different value.

These watches, in accordance with their characteristics, have often worked in “water” and this can have caused an infiltration. This can then lead to a revision and the possibility of a substitution of the dial, bezel, winding crown and/or other components with more modern pieces. It is therefore possi- ble to find many Submariner watches on the market with a dial described today as “service replacement” which shouldn’t be depreciated, just penalized in its value with respect to a watch which is totally “coe- val” (a term which means that all the watch components belong to the same period).

Again in the book Rolex Submariner Story you will find all the differences between the various Marks and all the dials variants (from Comex to personalized, from those defined as service replacement dials to complete originals).

In this book you will also have the updated price list of all Rolex Submariner, Submariner Date, Sea-Dweller and Deep Sea watches.
